“The key for my 2001 Acura CL can be removed regardless the position of the car's automatic transmission shift lever. In other words, the lock-out that should prevent this from happening in any position other than park is not functioning. This has occurred all the time over a period of several months and I understand this is a problem on other honda manufactured vehicles. As a result of this issue, my car rolled into my garage door after I had shut it off and gotten out of the vehicle, having mistakenly left in drive . Damage minor. …”
NHTSA complaint #10255561, filed 2009-01, 62,000 miles“The contact owns a 2001 Acura 3.2cl. In 2004, the contact received NHTSA recall notice number 04v176000 (power train:automatic transmission). The dealer replaced the transmission. As a result, the warranty was extended for seven years. On august 29, 2007, the vehicle was taken to the dealer for routine maintenance and she was informed that a new transmission was needed. The dealer stated that the entire transmission failed and was difficult to shift. They also stated that this was the same defect that was stated in the recall she previously received. …”
