“The rearview mirror of 1999-2003 Acura TL should be recall due to the fact that once it failed to work properly (which is my case at this time, 99 TL) it may explode at any time and could cause more problems leading from personal injury to deatly accident if while on driving. It's already happen to some Acura's owner recently. Acura seems to ignore this problem and so the manufacture of review mirror. Its dripping fluid is already damaged part of my property, that's a warning sign to me, my concern is more about its explosion which is next. Thanks for reading my complaint.”
NHTSA complaint #10230457, filed 2008-06, 60,000 miles“1999 Acura TL 50,000 miles. Rearview mirror exploded liquid. Noticed 5 days ago that the mirror was dark. 4 days ago noticed a clear bubble in the dark liquid. I thought it was just condensation or moisture and it would go away. Yesterday it exploded leaving black spattering on leather seats and center console, as well as on personal items. I got some in my mouth accidentally, and it left numbness and bad taste. Researched online and apparently contains toxic chemicals? Have coincidentally had headache/stomach pain all week but am reluctant to say yes, definitely from this . …”
NHTSA complaint #10245769, filed 2008-10, 50,000 miles“The fluid leaked out of the rearview mirror, apparently from a failed seal on the bottom of the mirror. The image in the mirror is now fuzzy and somewhat distorted. The mirror no longer has the night dimming function and instead headlights coming from behind are reflected brightly into the driver's eyes. I will need to have the mirror replaced.”
NHTSA complaint #10453518, filed 2012-03, 105,000 miles“There were no special events leading up to failure, the rear view mirror in my Acura 99 TL started leaking fluid and no longer works as it should. The liquid could be hazardous and the mirrors no longer up to the same standard as when the vehicle was released. Acura is unwilling to replace the mirror free of charge, in fact they are charging exorbitantly for it. …”
NHTSA complaint #10253549, filed 2009-01, 100,000 miles“Rearview mirror contains chemicals that have leaked out of its housing. This has caused the mirror to become distorted and difficult to see out of. The chemicals are a potential hazardous substance. I had to replace the mirror.”
