Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I have had both back tire aluminum inflation valve stems crack. The first one I noticed that the tire continually deflated and had it replaced before my tire lost all of its pressure. The most recent failure resulted in the valve stem cracking and separating completely causing a flat tire. Is the metal used in the stem too brittle or weak? I am fortunate that I have not had this failure occur while the vehicle was moving. I know several other people have had the same issue. As a result I had to have the stems replaced with rubber ones so that I do not have the same problem again. …”
