“There were no incidents leading to the failure of the windshield wipers on my 1998 chevrolet blazer. They simply do not operate when it rains, which has become quite a hazard, especially during sudden rain, while driving the vehicle in traffic! While I have incurred no accidents due to this failure, I've had to stop in traffic, during inclement weather, as I could not see to maneuver the vehicle safely.”

NHTSA complaint #10078786, filed 2004-06, 1 miles

“Intermittent wiper failure. The wipers will quit working for a few minutes to a half hour or more at times. Moving the wiring harness connector on and off of the wiper motor housing a few times temporarily fixes the problem for a few minutes or a week or more at times. It appears that the connection there is faulty. The local chevrolet dealer informed me that my truck is not part of the wiper failure recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10046963, filed 2003-11, 69,000 miles

“For a period of several months the windshield wipers on my 1998 chevrolet c1500 silverado would quit unexpectedly while I was driving. Finally, in aug 2003 I was traveling at highway speeds in driving rains when the wipers unexpectedly quit causes me to narrowly avoid hitting a pedestrian due to loss of visibility. I then stopped at a chevrolet dealer and was informed that c1500 trucks from 1994-1997 had been recalled for this problem due to loose soldering on the wiper motor switch. I was forced to spend $64 to replace this very dangerous defect. …”

“We own a 1998 s10,chevrolet pickup. Several times over the last three years the windsheild wipers quit while driving. A few moments later they will start working again. This is extremely intermittent! I took the truck to the local GM dealer but they said it was not listed in the recall for a windsheild wiper problem and would cost roughly $400 dolarrs to replace the pulse module. I understand that GM in canada recalled several vehicles for this same problem. Also I understand that several owners of this particular truck in the us has had the same problem. My question? …”
