“Takata recall I have been patience waiting to have my airbags recalled. Every time I contact the car dealership that I purchased my truck, they keep telling me that my truck can't be serviced to replace my defected takata air bags. I was in an accident in feb 6th 2017. It wasn't my fault and the air bags didn't explode.”
NHTSA complaint #11039413, filed 2017-10, 116,000 miles“The dash is cracking bad that where the passenger side air bag has completely cracked off and fell into the inner dash... I can not fix this. Is this a defect that can be fixed through a recall of some sort... Every time I go over a bump or any slight bump in the truck you can hear the plastic crack each time”
NHTSA complaint #11040690, filed 2017-10, 209,000 miles“The dash board on my 2007 Avalanche has several cracks and there are more appearing all the time. This has to be something the manufacture should fix for customers. I have never used any cleaning products other than a wet towel to clean my dash. I'm afraid this could affect my air bag deployment and cause injury.”
NHTSA complaint #10910693, filed 2016-09, 160,000 miles“The dash has cracked in multiple places including at the airbag. This is a known problem by GM and all tahoes, avalanches, suburbans, and sierra pick up trucks have the same problem. The service manager at my dealership admitted GM had a problem with the vendor supplying this dash. I consider it a safety issue because it is at the air bag, and also over the instrument panel and electronics.”
NHTSA complaint #10789762, filed 2015-11, 65,000 miles“The dashboard on my Chevrolet Avalanche started cracking about 12 months ago. After doing some research online I have discovered this has become a common issue with many Chevrolet Avalanche, tahoe, and suburban in the 2007-2011 time frames. I am following what others are doing by filing complaints with NHTSA as I would like this addressed as the crack is in the corner of the air bag which has been recalled via the takata recall.”
