2008 Chevrolet HHR Technical Service Bulletins

938 technical service bulletins (TSBs) are on record for the 2008 Chevrolet HHR. TSBs are notes manufacturers send to dealers about repair procedures for issues seen in the field. They are not recalls and do not by themselves mean a vehicle has a fault.

• 10038510Mar 1, 2011Engine cooling. Gm: there may be noise coming from the cylinder head, because of low oil pressure which is caused by debris.

• 10037417Nov 1, 2010Fuel system, Electrical system. Gm: malfunction light is on and there is a misfire. There may be three trouble codes and could be a result of wiring problems at the fuel injector.

• 10036444Aug 1, 2010Engine cooling. Chevrolet/pontiac/saturn/daewood/opel: low turbocharger boost pressure or possible dtc p0299. Technicians may find dtc p0299 present. May also find the turbo wastegate actuator rod nut missing. Most parts of the turbocharger are not serviceable.
• 10036544Jun 1, 2010Engine cooling. Chevrolet/pontiac/saturn/daewoo/opel: engine misfire/low compression. Technician should perform a compression test. Results may lead to cylinder with low compression (85-90psi). This may cause the misfire.

Other dtcs that may set are p0532, p0522, p0452, p0335, p0106, p0101 and p0068. Three areas where wire chaffing can occur have been identified and confirmed.

• 10033184Jul 1, 2009Transmission and drivetrain. Chevrolet/pontiac/saturn: blocked shift, gear hop out 1st, 3rd, 5th gear or difficulty shifting. The shift lever on the manual transmissions roll pin can back out and contact the shift cover during a shift event. This can cause an incomplete, blocked shift or difficulty shifting the transmission.

During diagnosis, a low or high line pressure (actual versus desired) may be observed.

• 10032335Jun 1, 2009Electrical system. Daewoo/saturn/opel/pontiac/chevrolet: instrument panel cluster (ipc) air bag indicator illuminated (install protective material). Upon performing a dtc check, the technician may find a b0012-02, b0012-oe or b0013-oe code stored in the supplemental inflatable restraints (sir) system. This condition may be caused by a short to ground in the yellow sir wiring harness. *pe updated 6/16/15.
• 10032558May 1, 2009Transmission and drivetrain. Chevrolet: difficult to shift or unable to select all gears. The transmission is difficult to shift and/or it cannot be shifted into all gears. This condition may be caused by a locator pin left in place that was meant to be removed at the assembly plant or a shift cable out of position. (cobalt ss/hhr ss).
• 10030747May 1, 2009Brakes. Chevrolet: after installation of the ohb brake kit per tsb 09-05-22-001a, a check engine light will be on and dtc p258b will be set. Following esi diagnostics may lead dealers to try reprogramming the ecm or ebcm and also replace the vacuum pump.
• 10030746May 1, 2009Electrical system. Chevrolet/opel/saturn/cadillac/pontiac: a low battery condition on any of the above listed vehicles could potentially cause the sir light to come. The sdm under low power situations could set codes b0083 and b0084.
