“Door locks randomly locked and unlocked. I could be driving or the car could be parked and the door locks would go up down up down. If it locked, there was no way to open it, I was stuck in the car. I felt it was such a hazard that I just had to remove the fuse that operated the door locks.”
NHTSA complaint #10522647, filed 2013-07, 50,000 miles“This has been happening for about 6 months now where when the car is put into park and I try to exit the car either the door will unlock but will not let me out or when I am able to exit the car, the door hinge will not engage and the door will not close or lock.”
NHTSA complaint #10627148, filed 2014-08, 71,000 miles“My Malibu 2009 has locks opening and closing often when driving. Remaining open is a big safety concern. My dealer and GM pretend not to help unless they are in car when they see and hear it happening. My son also has the same problem on his new Malibu 2009. Desperate for help. We have little children often in car and the locks are open., when this happens.”
NHTSA complaint #10280354, filed 2009-08, 4,119 miles“The locks worked fine up until a few weeks ago now none of the power lock buttons work, my doors lock and unlock randomly even while driving ... This has become a huge pain... I have reached out to several Chevrolet dealers and was told that this is normal wearing on my car. Everyone I have spoken to who drives the same vehicle have all had the same issue and I feel like GM should cover the cost of the repairs!! Also they should find out why this is happening in their vehicle.”
