“Frame on my brand new 2014 Silverado has major rust issues, chevy dealers say oh it's normal. It's not normal for a very expensive truck to rust while sitting on a lot. I'm not sure it will be safe in a few years at the rate it's rusting. This is a big issue on several places on the net.”

NHTSA complaint #10622559, filed 2014-08, 1,000 miles

“Just bought the truck, first day or two drove slow no issues. Once I got comfortable driving around 65-70 mpg I start to get a vibration and shaking to the point it feels not safe at all. I looked up on the internet and tons of people are having this problem. Truck is brand new truck.”

NHTSA complaint #10654630, filed 2014-11, 400 miles

“I brought my truck in for a vibration problem to the dealership that I purchased it from. The truck was muddy and the dealership told me that it was from all the mud on the truck. But they did not even wash the truck and test drive it. Then I brought it into a different dealership to have it check for the same thing. They forced balance my truck and they found something so they rotated my drive shaft 180 degrees and said it was fixed. About 30 days later it started again and brought it back to be checked. …”

NHTSA complaint #10695548, filed 2015-03, 6,900 miles

“On approximately july 19, 2014, the hill descent mode failed on my 2014 Silverado 1500 as I was driving down a mountain in the state of washington. The truck took off when this failed and I had to manually use my brakes in order to avoid crashing into any vehicles ahead. I took the vehicle in to the dealer who, and I quote 'they couldn't duplicate the concern and there were no codes stored in the system'. Only four miles were put on the truck while it was in their shop. How can you possibly test this failure if you didn't drive it in the mountains? …”

NHTSA complaint #10693235, filed 2015-03, 500 miles

“On friday may 23, 2014, I was backing an empty boat trailer down my private boat launch with my new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup. When I put the transmission into reverse with my foot on the brake the engine suddenly revved up, started spinning wheels, and shot down the ramp hitting three bulkhead pilings eight feet apart, finally wedging the truck into the last piling and stopping before going into the water. The incident lasted less than five seconds and my foot never left the brake as witnessed by a third party verifying the brake lights never went off. …”
