Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“The transmission, torque converter, lock-up solenoid has failed. This is the second time, the dealer replaced the first under warranty. It is my understanding, this is an emissions/driveability/economy related component. I am now experiencing very poor mileage and the engine seems to be running increasingly poor as well. Driveability seems to be suffering. The dealer states nothing can be done. - is this true?”

NHTSA complaint #763986, filed 2002-07
