“Rear brakes became inoperative. The left rear axle seal was found to be leaking transaxle fluid and contaminating the left rear brake shoes. Brake failure could have resulted in accident, injury and possible death. Local service garage replaced left axle seals and bearings. Replacement was not covered under warranty.”
NHTSA complaint #10203345, filed 2007-09, 64,605 miles“Brake pedal goes all the way to the floor on start up after car sits for a few hours in sub-zero (f) temperatures. The only way to stop is with emergency brake. Pedal returns to normal after car warms up. First occurred on 1-16-04, brought car to dealer who found nothing wrong, happened again 1-26-04. Bringing car back to dealer today. This is a very dangerous problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10054957, filed 2004-01, 35,500 miles“The entire undercarriage has rotted, including the brake lines, oil lines and antifreeze coolant lines. I do not believe this is normal for any car, even though the car is 12 years old. It was happening to the previous owner but he was reluctant to report it...I am not. I have owned the car only for about 4 months now. I have had to replace some of the coolant lines and some of the brake lines. Now the oil lines are leaking heavily and I am going to have to have them replaced as well. …”
NHTSA complaint #10592840, filed 2014-05“The engine knocks and rattle when it is first started sounds like there is either a valvtrain or piston slap problem in the engine. Also the air conditioning has this odor that is really nasty to smell when you first turn on the unit. The brake pads have been replaced twice within the last year and the rotors have been replaced as well. Dt”
NHTSA complaint #768742, filed 2002-10“Rear main seals are letting go, causing all pressure to be put on the front brakes. Consumers mom had the same problem with her 2000 Tracker. Once consumer purchased the 2001 year of the same vehicle, her father informed consuemr to have the system checked. Upon checking, consumer found out that the same failure her moms vehicle experienced was also showing signs on the 2001 version. Consumer would like for GM to recall the failing parts.”
