Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I have a 2000 chevy venture VAN w/ only 62043 miles on it. With some of my kids in the car, the engine started to whine. Brought it to a garage, where I was told my transmission was junk and it would cost about $2k to fix. I thank god that I at least got to a garage and there was no accident. This is on the heels of gasket seals leaking in the engine, ABS hub centers failing, all brakes having had work (not just front), suspension work, sliding doors coming off track. …”

NHTSA complaint #10158070, filed 2006-05, 62,043 miles

“2000 VAN left in at 55,000 miles for oil change. Informed that manifold gasket is leaking and needs replacing $880. This appears to be a defect in these vans so cost should be covered by the manufacturer.”

NHTSA complaint #10102101, filed 2004-12, 55,000 miles
