“A major gasoline leak was caused by corrosion of the high-pressure fuel line along the underbody of my 1999 Chevrolet Venture mini-van (mileage 80k). I lost about 10 gallons of gas in going about 30 miles, and maybe was lucky not to have suffered a fire or explosion. The chevy dealer, in grass lake michigan, replaced the fuel line for $602. Including labor. I have saved all of the old parts.”
NHTSA complaint #10102218, filed 2004-12, 80,434 miles“My wife smelled gasoline upon entering the car on october 7, 2012. I checked under the car from where the smell was coming from, and saw gasoline dripping from a pipe near the gas tank. I brought the car to the local chevy dealership. I had to replace four fuel and evaporation lines due to corrosion. It cost me over $1,000 to replace these lines. I feel very fortunate that I was able to correct this problem before a disaster could have occurred. I could have been driving on the highway with gasoline leaking onto my exhaust pipe. …”
NHTSA complaint #10479979, filed 2012-10, 101,000 miles“This will be a list of most of the problems. I have complained of smelling anti-freeze since I purchased the van new. It currently has 94k on it and I have done all scheduled maintenance on it. I think the clock work oil changes is the only reason it still runs. Manifold gaskets, intake, head...have been replaced twice and need it again, really bad. But I just do not have 5-800 bucks laying around to do a gasket job again since I just did it a year ago. The anti-freeze diluting the oil has messed up a couple pistons. …”
NHTSA complaint #10163941, filed 2006-07, 20,000 miles“Day of purchase, major engine failures replacement of nearly everything then some. Continues to arc electrical sparks under the hood. Electrical shorting of all components within the van internal engine issues not correctable just bandaiding fuel issues with oil coolant and arcing constitutes a fire and possibly death. I have all serviced repair documents if one should need to view them.”
NHTSA complaint #10095579, filed 2004-10, 32,334 miles“While parking, the consumer smelled fuel inside the vehicle. The dealership serviced the vehicle and the technician noticed fuel leaking from the engine. The fuel lines were corroded.”
