“My vehicle has been randomly stalling on me since july of 2008. It usually happens when I am on the highway. It will unexpectedly stall and the engine will shut down. I usually have to coast to the berm. It happens every one to two weeks. This week it has happened 4 times! I had it put in the shop yesterday and they ran a diagnostic check and cannot find anything wrong. They say it sounds like the crank shaft sensor but since it wouldn't cut off on them and there are no codes in the computer they cannot be sure.”
NHTSA complaint #10248887, filed 2008-11, 103,000 miles“I recently purchased a used 1999 Chrysler 300M. I had no problems with the car for the first couple of months. After about 3 months I noticed the interior lights began to turn on and off by themselves. Shortly after that my factory stereo went out. The next thing I noticed was the transmission slipping. After that my driver and passenger side speakers went out. After that my headlights began turning on and off by themselves when the car was parked and turned off. After that my heating unit would come on automatically whenever I would start the car. …”
NHTSA complaint #10217516, filed 2008-02, 112,809 miles“The dashboard on my 1999 Chrysler 300M has split on the right side just to the left of the air bag. My car has 36,00 miles and has been in a garage most of the time. I am concerned the air bag will not work properly. Chrysler is not willing to repair the dashboard because the year warranty is out. The dash should certainly outlast the first set of tires and the original battery. I also know of several other 300M's with splits in the same spot. Is this a safety issue with right side airbag?”
NHTSA complaint #10032860, filed 2003-08, 34,000 miles“I own a 1999 Chrysler 300M.purchased in january of 2001. When I purchased the car, it had already been repaired on the left side of the passenger air bag.when I asked the salesman about it, he said that they had repaired something electrical under the dash and probably had to go into the system at that point. After approximately 6 mos. The dash start to split in a verticle line along the right side of the passenger airbag. The service manager at the dealer said that he could not replace the dash under warranty because it was not covered and was only cosmetic. …”
NHTSA complaint #10031037, filed 2003-08, 32,000 miles“1st time pulling into traffic it stalled I lucked out had momentum to make it across. 2nd time not so lucky stopped at light attempted u turn stalled half way through stopped all traffic it would not restart for 4 min. So the rest is the same story put in shop cannot diagnose. Very bad safety issue.stalling and hard starting both intermittent and with out any warning and seems to happen more frequently (3 to 6 times a day).”
