He did not have the recall repair work done. Now ,the engine check light came on. The dealership to whom he took the car to in october 2005, stated that the parts do not match the ones that were subject to the recall of last year. Updated 11/16/2005 - when the diagnostic were ran on the vehicle the DTC came up p0342 for the camshaft position sensor. …”
NHTSA complaint #10140264, filed 2005-10, 78,700 miles“To who may concern: I am car technician working at a daewoo dealer. Daewoo has a recall about inspecting and replacing the camshaft sensor. Only a few sensors have to be replaced on this recall (we need to check the serial number on the sensors to see if it has to be recalled) but in almost all cars I inspect, the sensor is bad, set a code for the sensor and the check engine light is on, now I have to tell the customer they need a sensor and the cost has to be paid by the customer, I think it is really unfair for the customer to bring the car for a recall, and they have to pay. …”
NHTSA complaint #10159098, filed 2006-06“The contact stated while driving 65 MPH on the interstate, there was a smell of burning wires. When the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, the recall #04v357000 remedy was denied due to the lot number of the camshaft sensor not being included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified however the contact has not received a return call.”
