“I have had three continental contitrac as p245/75r16 tires fail due to tread separation in the last 4 years. This latest incident resulted in $2,000.00 worth of damage to my vehicle. I was mailed a recall notice sevral years ago for these tires but was told my tires were not part of the recall. The latest failure was on a tire with DOT number ad70 449 447. I believe these tires are dangerous and that continental tires should do something about it. …”
NHTSA complaint #10093057, filed 2004-09, 73,000 miles“Tread separation occurred on the freeway for 1 tire and when we reached final destination there was excessive vibration on the other 3 tires. Sears called bridgstone and they gave us credit as they were cracking and buldging and in bad shape. When we tried to seek compensation for the damage the tire caused the vehical bridgstone refused stating that the tire had to have been struck by something which is not relevant.”
NHTSA complaint #764759, filed 2002-07“I was driving on the interstate when truck started shaking and bouncing. When I pulled over and inspected the tire I found a large bubble in the middle of the tire. I had the tires replaced and found that the tread had started to separate from the tire. With all of the news I had been hearing about other firestone tires, I thought you should know. I still have the tires if they are needed for inspection. ( DOT number: tire size: 245/75r16 )”
