“I have had my Dodge Stratus es for approximately 3 years and the back safety shoulder harness has quit working now 2 times. The first time I had it fixed under warranty and this last time the dealership refused to repair it without it costing a small fortune. I think there should there should be some kind of automatic repair of safety parts, such as, seat belts, etc without a small fortune having to be paid.”
NHTSA complaint #10081199, filed 2004-07, 83,000 miles“Rear safety belts used to secure the child safety seat broke. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, and said they've never seen anything like that before. Consumer also called the manufacturer, but received no assistance. Consumer was told that the vehicle was out of warranty.”
NHTSA complaint #10103624, filed 2004-12, 37,480 miles“On both rear and one front seat belt the lock that holds the seat belt tight in case of an accicent had fallen off . Making proper placement of a car seat nearly impossible. I have since had them replaced but still fear that others to whom don't know any different may have a unknown danger. I think that the lock itself is poorly made and should have some way to make it tamper resistant, or so they don't come off as easily as mine did. They are also not cheap to have replaced since you have to replace the entire seatbelt to correct the problem.*akjlg”
NHTSA complaint #757334, filed 2002-01“While driving 25 MPH driver was involved in a collision. Upon impact the front driver seat belt failed to retract. This caused the driver to sustain minor injuries, and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection.”
NHTSA complaint #10115491, filed 2005-03“Consumer experienced head gasket failure. Other failures included rear seat belt problems, no power on the back windows, EGR valve failure, transmission shifting problems and speed sensor failure.”
