Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“In 1999 the manual seat height adjuster was dropped on all 99' Dodge Stratus's. A fixed seat was installed. The seat manufactured by chrysler's vendor is in a very high fixed position, so high that I at 5ft 7inches tall is only about 3 inches from the roof liner. My son at 6ft 1inch cannot drive this vehicle, his head is literally squashed into the head liner. I just cannot believe a seat to be manufactured this high as to pose a safety hazard to people over 5ft 10. I have contacted chrsyler twice on this matter to no avail. …”

NHTSA complaint #703240, filed 1999-02

“Driver's power adjusted seatback broke. Dealer stated it would take 2-3 weeks to get part in. The consumer being short, barely reach the steering wheel after the back of the seat broke.”

NHTSA complaint #884492, filed 2001-03
