“I have a 2005 Gmc envoy xl. When I bought the SUV in jan 2009 the gas gauge was showed 1/4 tank when it was empty. By february, the gauze was completely nonfunctioning. Had the gauze replaced in june of 2010.”
NHTSA complaint #10398624, filed 2011-05, 76,000 miles“I have a 2005 Gmc envoy i6 that I purchased in march 2005. November of 2006 we replaced the fuel sensor that is under warranty due to when I would fill up the gas tank the gauge would go to empty and would eventually make it to full after about 100 miles driven. Now a year and a half later the same thing is happening and the local dealership has confirmed it is a known issue and would cost around $1100 to fix the issue that should have already of been fixed the first time I took it in.”
NHTSA complaint #10251310, filed 2008-12, 33,000 miles“Fuel gauge malfunction. I filled the tank of my vehicle, 2005 Gmc envoy xl, I ran out of gas going up an inclined level of a parking garage two stories underground during rush hour in d.c. I could have easily let my SUV run into the vehicle behind me but, I was fortunate to react quickly and avoid harm's way. The problem with gauge is it will read full when empty at times and; shortly thereafter, you have total failure of the gauge - it will no longer properly read or register how much gas one has in their fuel tank. …”
NHTSA complaint #10315230, filed 2010-03, 42,500 miles“Fuel gauge sensor 2005 envoy xl denali. 70153 miles. After fueling the vehicle fuel gauge registers empty until about an eighth of a tank has been used then the fuel gauge works just fine. Have to disconnect the positive battery terminal for appx. Ten minutes to get the service engine light to stop illuminating. Occurs everytime I fill the vehicle. It causes an inaccurate fuel reading. Turning in to dealer tomorrow 06-19-2013 for repairs. Code produced p0463.”
