“Dt: when driving the vehicle and pressing on the brake it felt as though they didn't work. Vehicle was taken to the repair center, and was told to unhook the anti-lock brakes because it was expensive to fix them , and that was what most people did.”
NHTSA complaint #10124843, filed 2005-06, 14,000 miles“1) engine- vehicle would not decelerate from hwy speed, even though operator was not touching the gas pedal. I had to put in neutral, then shut off engine to stop vehicle. This was after I was forced to go through a red traffic light. 2) brakes- in the same situation, the brakes suffered a complete failure, with no power-assist, forcing the vehicle through a red traffic light.”
NHTSA complaint #745131, filed 2001-05“This is my wifes car and this ABS drake problem was suppose to be fixed at the time of recall, but I was driving it dec. 9 2000 when I had to slam on the brakes .at frist the drakes locked up when the pedal pulsed and then went to the floor and I had no barkes at all. I would like for the people from Gmc to put there wife and kids in this car and let them drive it for a week or two.”
NHTSA complaint #737900, filed 2000-12“While slowing down to make a turn vehicle began to slide. Causing me to hit another vehicle. This is the third incident. Previously my husband rear - ended a vehicle, and I slid through a traffic light narrowly escaping being hit by a dump truck. Vehicle has been in for repairs and in for recall. Vehicle was said to be safe to drive, written on the receipt. Approx. 4,000 in damage to my vehicle and 4 weeks in the shop.”
NHTSA complaint #743890, filed 2001-04“Brakes failed on 4 occasions. Brake pedal went to floor when attempting to stop abruptly. I did some research and found that this was a problem which had a recall although I didn't own the vehicle during that time. I contacted the previous owner who said he didn't have it fixed and wasn't sure if he ever received a recall notice. I notified Gmc and was told by that my VIN was not found . Am I stuck with this problem? I found out it would cost approximately $800.00 to fix! It is very dangerous.”
