“Front passenger seat belt chime comes on when there is nothing on the front seat or almost nothing on the seat. This has happened at least 1/2 dozen times or more. I can be driving and all of sudden comes on. It can scare one esp 1st time. You don't know what is happening. I thought I blew a tire or door came open. My attention was everywhere but on 65 MPH traffic on freeway. Breaks one's driving concentration. Independent of temperature. Other problem I have is lots of wind comes in on passenger door. It is not aligned properly. Gm has tried a couple of times with no success. …”
NHTSA complaint #10840112, filed 2016-03, 6,810 miles“The front passenger seat belt chime comes on even when there is nothing or almost nothing in the seat. This mostly happens when the ambient temperature is above 45 degrees fahrenheit and either during a braking event or acceleration event (either from a stop or during an overtake menuver). It also occurs when the vehicle speed goes above 60mph. In all these situations the chime comes on at most in-opportune times while the vehicle is in motion startling the driver causing him/her to take the eyes off the road to look around what is going on with the vehicle. …”
