“All three of my door locks no longer lock electronically. They must be locked manually. I have two children and this is a major safety concern. Many complaints have been filed to GM indicating that this is a manufacturing error. My car has 85000 miles and many that have complained have far less. This is clearly an issue that should be recalled. I reached out to GM with no solution offered other than them basically saying I am on my own. They did offer to help me find a local dealer I could shell out my money to. Please help. This issue occurs when the car is at rest and in motion.”
NHTSA complaint #11075116, filed 2018-02, 85,000 miles“11/25/2012 - hybrid shut down with no warning at 65mph on I-80 going west near ohio border - thus lost power steering and propulsion. I got to shoulder safely; towed to Gmc dealer - result hybrid fault code but no cause determined. Connector greased with dielectric grease, and fault could not be replicated. 12/24/2012 - hybrid failure after parked for 2 hours. Towed to Gmc dealer; cascade of hybrid fault codes, and transmission harness cable replaced. No explanation given as to why harness cable failed. No component of hybrid system ever replaced. Back-up re service hx. …”
NHTSA complaint #10505056, filed 2013-03, 31,200 miles“While driving on the highway between 65-70 miles an hour my vehicles check engine light came on and la message of engine power reduced appeared. The vehicle loss power but I was able to make it to the shoulder safely. The car would not turn on and I had to cal aaa to take my care to the dealer. The dealer said that the valve body internally shorted the memory circuit and the crankshaft sensor shorted. The dealer said that they found the harness for the crankshaft had melted and shorted out the sensors. They repaired the harness, replaced the shorted out sensor and replaced the valvebody/TCM. …”
NHTSA complaint #10615524, filed 2014-07, 107,465 miles“3 of the 4 door locks failed to work as intended, I.e., with fob and had to be manually manipulated to open doors. One door could be opened with key. One door could only be opened if lock was pulled up manually - it would lock automatically, but took manual intervention to get the lock in the un-lock position. Unless there was an adult in this position to open the lock, the door could not be accessed from the outside. This was a rear passenger door and caused great concern when children were in the car. …”
NHTSA complaint #10622583, filed 2014-08, 116,000 miles“Upon being stopped at a light at a main intersection and then making a left hand turn, the vehicle shut down and the check engine light came on the panel. We were able to coast to the side of the road. After a few minutes, the vehicle started up for about 2miles then shut off again. The dealer was not able to replicate and said no issues found. They gave us the vehicle back only to have the same issue 5 days later in which the vehicle was towed back to the dealer. Diagnostics then showed a new battery was needed (?) and a sealant resealed. …”
