“Was driving vehicle, stopped vehicle, noticed that gas was leaking from underneath the vehicle. Took car to dealership to diagnose issue. Quoted $970 to fix. Fuel nipple broke on fuel pump assembly. Entire assembly had to be replaced. Gm recalled 316,058 vehicles for this issue. My vehicle was not part of the recall based on the VIN number. Gmc will not compensate even though other yukon xl's and chevy suburban's have had this problem. I have a friend who owns a 2001 chevy suburban and he had the same thing happen to his vehicle. He had to have the same part replaced on his vehicle. …”
NHTSA complaint #10286787, filed 2009-10, 47,000 miles“The contact stated while driving 70 MPH on normal road conditions, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle would not restart, however the electrical system worked properly. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who determined the fuse of the fuel pump had gone out. The fuse was replaced. A few weeks later while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled again. This time the vehicle was towed to a different dealer who determined the fuel pump wiring shorted and the vehicle needed a new fuel pump. There was a recall #01v159000 regarding the fuel pump. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN. …”
