Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I recently noticed that my spare tire was missing. I took it back to the sear auto center that has been servicing it. When they looked under the car they said that it was common for the yukon spare tire cable to rust and snap off. So I lost the spare tire, spare wheel, and cable system to hold the spare under the vehicle. Not sure where or when it happened, but it was in the last 2 years. Just found out about this complaint service. Have also had to replace the brakes and rotors a number of times (an excessive amount), and have had to have the A/C unit repaired twice. …”

NHTSA complaint #10471297, filed 2012-08, 105,000 miles

“I purchased my 2001 yukon denali xl on november 22, 2006 and when I was driving it home from the dealership it died at a red light. It started right back up so I didn't think much about it. The very next day the vehicle died during acceleration when I was at about 20 MPH. I had a hard time restarting the vehicle. It spit and sputtered. When I did get it started I tried to drive and when I used the brakes it wanted to die or it would idle up and make braking difficult. I could not maintain a constant speed and the engine kept dying. …”

NHTSA complaint #10174558, filed 2006-11, 68,500 miles

“While driving at 70 MPH consumer heard a sound, and vehicle lost power and stalled. Dealer examined the vehicle, and determined that the timing belt broke.”
