Example complaints

“At low speed the vehicle hesitates before accelerating. First noticed problem in mall parking lots. When I attempted to slowly maneuver the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond to the gas pedal. If you continue to apply the gas, the vehicle would lunge forward, almost spinning the front wheels. Yesterday I made a right turn on to a busy road, and the vehicle just died. With a garbage truck fast approaching I continued to apply the gas, and the vehicle finally accelerated.”

“When we first purchased this 2013 Honda we loved it as it is a beautiful car. My husband and I started noticing a hesitation when stepping down on gas pedal to move across oncoming traffic into the right hand lane making a left turn. The hesitation became frightening. The service department manager explained to me that this was normal for Honda as it was a transition period while checking traction. We see it as dangerous. Now that we own the car since 3/7/14 we need to know what our options are. Do we have to wait until there is an accident?”

NHTSA complaint #10607778, filed 2014-07, 2,000 miles

“When attempting to accelerate from a stoplight, a slight push on the gas pedal has no effect on the car. Since there is no reaction from the car I will push down slightly further on the gas pedal in which case the car absolutely takes off and almost spins tires. Very dangerous in certain situations, especially with the more powerful v6 engine I have in my Crosstour. This happens at least once a month and scares the living hell out of me. Next time I buy a car, I am getting on this website first. All but one Crosstour complaint is specifically related to this issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10725433, filed 2015-06, 25,000 miles

“When stopped at intersection and taking foot off brake to proceed, occasionally car will not move forward with moderate gas pedal pressure. Backing off the gas slightly gets car going forward. Engine does not quit during these episodes, it just will not move car unless gas pedal position is changed by backing off a little. This can be very panic-inducing when timing cross-traffic for a crossing or merge.”
