“I have a 2006 Honda shadow aero 750cc motorcycle. Sometime when I start it up it will run for a couple of minutes and then cut off and will not start back. This has happened 4 times now in the last year. Once while I was on the road driving and 3 times while I have had the bike running to warm up. I let it set for awhile about an hour or so and it will start back up and run good. I know that there has been a recall on some of the petcocks on our bikes. I have taken the VIN # to the dealer and had them check to see if mine was one of the ones on recall. They have said no. …”

“Bought the shadow and noticed the petcock was leaking when turned on. I bought a factory petcock from Honda and installed it. Now not a few months later the exact same thing. It is a faulty diaphragm that causes gas to leak onto a hot engine block. It needs to be recalled and set right by the dealers. This is a serious issue. …”

NHTSA complaint #10573305, filed 2014-03, 12,000 miles

“The recall on Honda VT750C aeros for a fuel valve problem should be extended to all 2004 through the present year. The diaphragm in the petcock is of a faulty design and fails with great regularity endangering the public with the great possibility of fires from gasoline leaking on the hot engine while riding the motorcycle. I am a member of the Honda aero 750 forum and this is a topic that comes up regularly. Many, many riders of this vt750 aero from 2004 to present have been endangered and continue to be endangered by this defect. The recall on the 2007 and 2008 models is #08v14100. …”
