“while traveling from MN to KY on the interstate on two separate occasions the vehicle suddenly applied the brakes at Highway speeds around of 80mph. There was nothing Infront of me on either occasion. Then the next day it did it again at highway speed. Then I was driving on a mountain road in the smokies and it gave me a message that the front camera was blocked, and it was turning off the safety braking etc, I stopped when I could and took pictures there was nothing blocking the camera. …”
NHTSA complaint #11592725, filed 2024-06“While driving my 2024 Hyundai Kona on the freeway on May 22, 2026, at approximately 9:30 AM, traveling around 75 mph, my vehicle suddenly displayed a forward collision warning on the dashboard even though there was no vehicle, object, or road hazard in front of me that would justify emergency braking. Immediately after the warning appeared, the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking / forward collision avoidance system activated on its own, causing the car to brake abruptly and rapidly decelerate in active freeway traffic. …”
NHTSA complaint #11739689, filed 2026-05“My wife was driving and braked on a hill, not in park. The emergency brake auto-engaged while she was in park, then the emergency brake disengaged automatically. The care starts rolling down the hill, the regular brakes fail and do not work after pumping them multiple times. The emergency brake won't engage either. She tries reversing and that won't work. She shifted the car into drive, car keeps rolling, then she was able to engage the regular brakes and she turned into my driveaway to avoid hitting a wall or other cars. …”
NHTSA complaint #11741860, filed 2026-06“This mainly concerns the forward collision detection sensor, if that’s even what it’s actually called. My vehicle is available for testing and inspection. I was driving on an interstate, with my adaptive cruise control set to 75 mph. I was in the left of 3 lanes when got to a curve that went to the right. As I came to the beginning of the curve, all of a sudden my dash is warning me of a forward collision and the car started braking hard on its own. There is a metal guardrail that separates the 2 sides of the interstate and cars are also coming from the other direction. …”
