“My 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz didn't deploy the side curtain airbags when struck on the front passenger side. I was the passenger seated where the car impacted and my head hit the window without the airbags in which I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury and have become disabled. I'm attaching the supporting documentation regarding the accident and vehicle which was determined to be totaled. Pictures from the repair estimate company indicate where the vehicle's airbag sensors are located and show the airbags didn't deploy. …”

NHTSA complaint #11774489, filed 2026-10

“The vehicle was involved in a collision in which the airbags failed to deploy. Despite the severity of the impact, no airbags deployed. As a result, both adult occupants (my daughters) were injured. The failure of the airbag system to deploy raises serious safety concerns regarding the vehicle’s restraint system and crash sensors.”
