“System keeps saying that I am not watching the road, which I am. No eye glasses or sunglasses on. This causes the cruise control to suddenly disengage creating a safety hazard. SUV is up to date on software/firmware.”

NHTSA complaint #11673031, filed 2025-07

“Driver Assistant cruise and steering components relating to the warning system. The system notification is turned off in the settings; however, the issue overrides the setting. Cruise control and steering assist shuts off after brief but consistant warning to keep my eyes on the road. My eyes are on the road. I can do nothing to stop it from warning. It may happen up to 20 times in a distance of 9-20 miles. This has occured since purchase and occurs everytime the car is driven. While passing on interstate highways the system may shut off. Acceleration stops, steering assist shuts off. …”

NHTSA complaint #11681828, filed 2025-08

“We purchased our '24 Santa Fe hybrid on 9/18/24 new with no problems. On 10/8/24, about three weeks later, I was stopped at a stoplight after exiting the freeway. When the light turned green, I accelerated and felt a clunk, then the car would not accelerate past about 30 mph. Several warning lights came up on the dash. I could hear the engine revving, but it felt like it wouldn't go into the next gear. I thought I could make it to the dealership, which was only a few miles away. But at the next stoplight, I was stopped in a turn lane, and when I pushed on the gas nothing happened. …”

NHTSA complaint #11623316, filed 2024-11

“when accelerating at high speeds, over 70 mph, the car will sometimes appear to slip into neutral, and we are not able to accelerate at all. And then will need to coast to a stop, pull over, shut the car and restart. this has happened five times in the past year and always after one hour or more of driving at high speeds”

NHTSA complaint #11677170, filed 2025-07

“Forward attention warning camera continues to malfunction stating camera is obscured even when not. If cruise is allowed to be engaged the camera will randomly decide it doesn’t detect your face and will hard brake to stop the car. This has happened multiple times to me, narrowly avoiding collision from behind. Hyundai refuses to address the issue because their technicians can’t duplicate the issue so they state the car is safe to drive. Camera becomes hot to the touch much like an overheating cell phone. At times camera can be covered completely and will not detect it’s obscured. …”
