“I have a push button vehicle. When I attempted to start the vehicle (push the button and press down on the brakes), the car would not start. There was no ready button. The car appeared to be in standby mode. There was no additional signal code or alarm button that appeared on the standard dash board. Had to call road side assistance to tow to the dealership. Initial wait time for the vehicle not starting was over 1 hour.”
NHTSA complaint #10759065, filed 2015-08, 43,000 miles“Car has 65k miles. Warning chime came on, total loss of power, pulled of road safely. Warning light on dash came on ... Hybrid system warning...safely stop... Do not drive...then....check brake....then back to hybrid system warning...do not drive....then back to check brake. And on and on. I shut off the car after a minute and restarted car drove another several miles and then same situation. I have seen a video post on youtube and have seen other posts as well and one with a vehicle having only 3500 miles. …”
NHTSA complaint #11023525, filed 2017-09, 65,667 miles“Major failure occurred. I was driving my car when I heard sharp bells ringing from the car dash. Check hybrid systems lights illuminated on dash. The car was in motion when it just stopped. I had no time to pull to the side of the road. I turned it off and on again. I was in the center of the road and it would not move. Good samaritan pushed my car to side of the road. The check brakes light came on. Then the car would not turn on at all. The car would not recognize the key pad light came on. Locks would not operate. The window was stuck in the open position. …”
NHTSA complaint #11170196, filed 2019-01, 57,334 miles“Experienced a completely unexpected (and potentially dangerous) stalling while driving (I.e., not while stopped). This sudden stall was displayed to the sonata's driver panel as hybrid system failure, and the alarm was triggered to beep continuously. This may be related to the 12v lead-acid deteriorating, with capacity degraded to 110cca from specified 600cca. Even though the battery was degrading, the car should not stall just because the battery capacity is low.”
NHTSA complaint #11100475, filed 2018-06, 38,738 miles“While getting my car serviced, the mechanic told me that there was a leak in the coolant system. They could not detect/see any leaks anywhere and that the leaking was probably going into the engine or fuel.”
