“As I was approaching an intersection to make a left turn my car died suddenly. I wasn't sure what was happening. Since it started up immediately I didn't really think anything of it. Since the check engine light stayed on, I brought it in to my mechanic and he checked it out and thought he had fixed the issue. I had no issues for a short period of time. When it happened the second time and I was driving 35 MPH, I knew something had to be wrong. This time the check engine soon light, slp and ESC light all came on and the car starts jerking forward and then the car died. …”
NHTSA complaint #10683634, filed 2015-02, 89,236 miles“I'll start the car, then start to drive; maybe after 15-20 minutes, the car will stutter and act like its about to cut off, like a jerking motion. From there the tcs, ABS, slip, and engine light comes on; it'll resume to drive, after those lights come on, I'll be driving on the highway and the car just shuts off; I then have to put it in neutral (while at high speeds) then attempt to start the car again. After about two times while in neutral it'll start again. This is a very, very, dangerous situation; I have two small children that go everywhere with me! …”
NHTSA complaint #10636978, filed 2014-09, 180,000 miles“I bought a used 2003 Infiniti I-35 about a year ago and it was running fine until about a week ago when the engine suddenly shut off without warning while I was driving through an intersection. It really upset my girlfriend because we could have been 't-boned' on the passengers side and she could have been killed. When I got the car started it ran fine, like normal, except the 'slip', 'tcs', and 'check engine soon' lights all remained on. This has happened several times since then and now I'm concerned. I think that it might happen at another intersection and we won't be so lucky next time. …”
NHTSA complaint #10641905, filed 2014-10, 155,120 miles“The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti I35. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled immediately after the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician was unable to diagnose a failure but decided to clean the injectors and check the fuel pump as precautionary measure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 140,000. Updated 8/28/14 the consumer stated the vehicle stalled and wouldn't re-start right away. The vehicle had to cool down, first. …”
