“I was driving on the freeway at 50 miles an hour when my 2003 Infiniti M45 's engine shut off without warning. I put the car in neutral and re-started it. This happens often during highway and city driving. The current milage is 104,000mi.the first occurance was after the factory warranty of 70,000 mi. Expired. I contacted nissan/Infiniti and was told my car was not part of a recall initiated for this exact orrurance.”
NHTSA complaint #10402489, filed 2011-05, 104,000 miles“Vehicle consumes 1 quart of motor oil every 1000 miles. It causes carbon buildup in the combustion chambers. I was told I would have to pay to get the carbon cleaned periodically. Vehicle has 24000 miles and is still under warranty. Manufacturer says this type of consumption is normal and does not want to anything. Service rep stated that they are having the same issues with all models with this v8.”
NHTSA complaint #10081100, filed 2004-07, 25,000 miles“I was traveling down I-85 n bound doing about 65 in the middle lane with heavy traffic when the RPM dropped all the way out and the car lost all power as if it cut off leaving me in shock because I had no way of getting over to get off on the shoulder.after taking it to a shop I was told that it was the cam and crankshaft position sensors and that I need to contact Infiniti before paying to have this issue fixed because it was a recall for this issue, so I contact the Infiniti dealer and the lady I spoke with informed me that it has never been a recall for any issue on this car and that…”
NHTSA complaint #10549304, filed 2013-10, 93,000 miles“On the freeway with the wife, at ~60 MPH, the engine stalls, characteristics very similar to recall. Had to put into neutral and restart car on the fly to avoid a major accident. Since then it has happened two more times, luckily while at a stop. Contacted infinity and was told that the VIN on my car was not affected by the recall, although I have the exact same issues. (even a camshaft sensor code popped up since and have had an issue turning the engine from a cold start once already). My car also suffers from the infamous fuel gauge issue which Infiniti doesn't even have a recall for yet. …”
NHTSA complaint #10448454, filed 2012-02, 133,500 miles“My 2003 Infiniti M45 engine stopped during operation which was very concerning at the time due to my finance and child both in the car. This has been the second time that this has happened to my vehicle. This issue first occurred after the service engine light came on. I was told by the manufacture dealership that I would have to replace my engine to correct issue. That was a very expensive option so I took it another smaller auto shop to get a second opinion. I was told there was engine problem with the cam shaft senor and the timing belts. I decide to continue to drive vehicle. …”
