“Pulling into a parking space at low speed I put on the brakes and heard a grinding noise and the brakes failed. I crashed into a concrete wall, causing front-end damage to my car. The body damage was repaired (5/20-6/03/04) and the car was sent to the dealer to diagnose the problem. Dealer stated that they could not find a problem with the brakes (6/02-6/03). The body shop went to pick up the vehicle (6/04) and when the porter drove it to the front, the brakes failed and he crashed. The dealership called the Isuzu engineers and were told to pull the master cylinder off. …”

Also, stopping distance was extended.”

NHTSA complaint #10057661, filed 2004-03, 48,000 miles

“Problems with brake equipment on 1999 Isuzu Amigo. The consumer stated as she applied the brakes to stop at a light, the brakes failed to respond, which caused the consumer to rear end the vehicle in front of her. The consumer complained in the past about a problem with the brakes.”

NHTSA complaint #10050227, filed 2003-12, 13,164 miles

“Dt: the contact stated the ABS activated at low speeds. While driving at 5 MPH on slippery roads the contact's vehicle rear ended another vehicle during emergency braking. The ABS activation resulted in extended stopping distance. There was structural damage to the front end of the vehicle. The ABS continued to activate at low speeds. On october 14, 2005 the contact received NHTSA recall campaign 02i002000. The parts needed to repair the vehicle were not available at the local dealership. The manufacturer confirmed the parts were not available.”

NHTSA complaint #10146918, filed 2006-01, 62,000 miles

“When coming to a complete stop, and when applying the brakes the ABS system fails to work properly over a rough surface. Which has almost caused a collision. When taken to the dealership, the foreman tried to explain to me that this is normal for this vehicle. This stikes me as odd since the problem just recently begun. The dealership has done nothing to correct the problem.”
