Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“My car suffered from the smell of rotten eggs from the exhaust system whenever stopping the vehicle. The dealer replaced the oxygen sensor 1st. A cracked vacuum hose 2nd. All 6 fuel injectors & spark plugs 3rd try. They then blamed it on the oxygenated fuels we have in california. It still stinks like crazy when coming to a stop or parking after driving it. It made my wife sick on a number of occasions, but they stated that there was nothing else they could do to correct the problem. …”

NHTSA complaint #708344, filed 1999-07

“While driving the vehicle stalls without prior warning which almost caused an accident. Took to the dealer twice, replaced the fuel injection system. Dealer cannot determine problem.”
