“Comment: my wife has a 2000 jag stype v8 4.0 that we purchased aprox 4 yrs ago, but not from a jag dealer. The connecting rod in the motor went & a few months ago I got a used motor to replace that one & took it all apart & realized that the same thing was wrong with that one also. The #6 cylinders & the #1 were both bad. So I got another used motor & couldn't believe it but the exact same thing was wrong with that one too. …”

NHTSA complaint #10233191, filed 2008-07, 101,000 miles

“Took my 2000 jag s type to dealer on 2 dec 2005 for recall of engine breather elbow. The engine breather vent tube was replaced. At the same time, I told the dealer that my engine light was on -- they checked it and stated that I needed a fuel intake sensor. On 9 dec the sensor was replaced. Within a week, the engine light came back on, was advised that the part was probably bad, they ordered a new part and it was installed. Left the lot and the engine light returned. I returned to the lot the next day and they supposedly cleaned all the wires and applied stab lint to the harness. …”

NHTSA complaint #10159504, filed 2006-06, 78,064 miles

“Engine runs poorly due to large vacuum leak. Stalled many times without warning. Problem component is a deteriorated vacuum hose at the crankcase breather under the intake manifold. It appears that oil, fuel, and heat are affecting the rubber. After repairs motor does not stall but continues to stumble at idle. Dealer unable to repair the problem even though they acknowledged there was something wrong.”

NHTSA complaint #10160299, filed 2006-06, 57,000 miles

“Fluid leaking under car was noticed. Sensor and alert system on car did not indicate any problems. We called the dealer and purchased the coolant reservoir and coolant and had it installed. The leaking reservoir has stress cracks on all corners just waiting to blow up from the pressure.”
