“On 2 separate occasions approx. 1 year apart I was driving long distance from san diego, ca to nevada and idaho on interstate 15. On the first occasion (6/4/04) the vehicle lost all power and stalled approx. 60 miles south of salt lake city. Was able to restart and drove approx. 5 miles when vehicle stalled again. This occurred twice more and I was unable to restart after the fourth stall. Vehicle was towed to Jaguar dealership in salt lake city and kept there for 5 days. The service rep stated they could find nothing wrong but ultimately replaced the fuel pump. …”

The contact stated that when the ignition key was turned to the on position, it was difficult for the vehicle to shift out of the park position. After the vehicle was shifted into the drive position, there was a loud noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The contact stated that when the vehicle was refueled, there was a strong odor of fuel. The failures recurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel system, the lower ball joints, and the transmission needed to be replaced. …”
