“Pulling away from a stoplight the plastic gas pedal snapped off - resulting in the inability to accelerate out of the intersection. I purchased a replacement from the local Jeep dealership that same week - and this has just occurred again (february 22nd 2013). This past time I was pulling out of a parking lot and the gas pedal snapped again. I am not an aggressive driver. There must be a flaw in this design.”

NHTSA complaint #10500644, filed 2013-02, 54,000 miles

“Gas/accelerator pedal sticking, causing vehicle to throttle and accelerate uncontrollably and the engine to rev when the clutch is pressed. This happens while driving.”

NHTSA complaint #11061290, filed 2018-01, 112,050 miles

“The contact owns a 2009 Jeep wrangler. When applying pressure on the accelerator pedal at 10 MPH the vehicle would not accelerate. She shut the engine off and restarted it to reset the computer system. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the computer system was repaired; however, the failure resurfaced and became progressively worse. The vehicle was taken to the dealer thirteen times and the technician replaced the throttle body. None of the repairs have remedied the failure. The vehicle identification number was unavailable. The failure mileage was 900. The current mileage was 16,000.”
