“I purchased my 2005 Land Rover LR3 certified pre-owned with just 17.999 miles on it. Just 7 short months later with an additional 8,000 miles on it, totaling approximately 25,300 miles, the tires (which were supposedly brand new at time of purchase) were completely bald, and the steering column went out on it.”
NHTSA complaint #10245106, filed 2008-10, 25,363 miles“Reference 2005 landrover LR3: I continue to experience excessive, abnormal wear on my tires. I've spent hundreds of dollars, but landrover continues to deny that there is a defect in the vehicle. I'm concerned about the potential safety issues that could arise. Can you help me?”
NHTSA complaint #10268596, filed 2009-05, 26,057 miles“The manufacturer's recommended tires (goodyear wrangler all weather m+s 255/55vr19) on landrover LR3 models are wearing prematurely by cupping and underlayment showing through on inside of tire tread where unevenly worn. Mine did this at 25k miles, but I was lucky - after researching through various blogs I've found many needed all tires replaced even under 14k miles. This is a huge safety issue and I am currently working with my dealer to resolve my situation, but it should be made general knowledge to consumers - especially if it can prevent future accidents on the highways. …”
NHTSA complaint #10198650, filed 2007-08, 25,300 miles“The tires are wearing excessively. The problem was corrected at 18,000 miles service interval with an alignment and reappeared at 30,000 service. The dealer suggest changing the tires more often. They can not explain the cause.”
NHTSA complaint #10205434, filed 2007-10, 30,718 miles“2005 Land Rover 3 tires have excessive wear, strong gasoline smell after filling up the vehicle, and fluid leaking from under vehicle. Mechanic determined there is no leak and vehicle was not included in the recall.”
