“On april 6 2006 at 1:30 am I pulled into my parking space. I noticed that there was smoke coming from under the hood of my car. My boyfriend to take a look. When he opened the hood there was a fire. We tired to put it out but had no success so a resident called the fire department and they came to control the fire. Until now we don't know what cause the fire. As I was checking on safety recalls we came across this web site and read up on a recall campaign-(coolant system durability 1995 to 1999 my Land Rover Range Rover). …”
NHTSA complaint #10154776, filed 2006-04, 156,000 miles“This is the second time the radiator hose just fell off the radiator side. At 5000 miles while idleing the hose fell off and Land Rover replaced the motor. Two months ago I had the vehicle serviced per the hose recall. Land rover will not give me any assurence of that I will not have continued problems with the radiator/hoses as I live in the desert this is of great concern to me as it gets in the 130 range duning the summer. This could be life threatening for my children and myself”
NHTSA complaint #708708, filed 1999-07“While driving locally, in the neighborhood engine check light came on. Called dealer who told consumer to bring the car in. Was about 4 miles from home and the temperature gauge registered hot. Stopped immediately, called aaa and had it towed. Was told by dealer that the number one engine cylinder dropped into the piston because it moved, allowing anti-freeze to get into the engine.”
NHTSA complaint #861161, filed 2000-05“While driving, air conditioner suddenly cut off, smoke coming from the glove box filled the cabin, the hood was lifted and there was a clicking noise, engine ignited and front end meleted to the ground, vehicle was totalled, fire department felt it was definately not the fuel line, however they did smell gas.”
NHTSA complaint #875244, filed 2000-11“Recall 98 v 149 000/underhood fire: shortly after recall repairs were done vehicle developed a cracked engine. Dealer and the manufacturer were notified. Feel free to provide any further information.”
