Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“When using the ventilated seats the upper part of the seat heats up (between my should blades). It appears to happen randomly. Sometimes it doesn't heat up and other times it does. When it does heat up it gets so hot that I have to turn off the ventilated seats. It is not ambient or trapped hot air because I often start my car using the Lexus remote to start my car and let it run for 5-8 minutes so my vehicle can cool down (and warm up) before I get in and start driving it.”

NHTSA complaint #10881652, filed 2016-06, 8,000 miles

“There is an issue with the ventilated seats on the car. When you turn on the ventilated seating function the bottom of the seat blows cold air, but an upper band (shoulder blade height) on the back of the seat heats up dramatically. Once you engage the function a band of the back of the seat heats up just like a heating element would heat up. It's instant and it gets very hot! I turn it off for fear both comfort and for fear that something will burn.”
