“One evening I got into my car and was heading home from work when I used the brakes and they went all the way to the floor. I had no brakes. The part I replaced was the hydraulic brake control unit. It cost me almost 700.00 to repair. I have the proper paperwork if you need to see the repair order. Pretty ironic that the recall will be coming out but they say my car wasn't affected. I could have been in a severe accident. I am looking for reimbursement on the money I spent. …”
NHTSA complaint #11290355, filed 2019-12, 106,000 miles“After braking in an emergency situation the brake pedal has excessive travel which is exactly as described in safety recall 19v904000. I checked the VIN and this vehicle is not listed as being included in the recall but it definitely has the problem. I spoke with ford and unless the recall includes this VIN they will not repair as a recall, but rather at my expense. I was travelling in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway going approximately 60 miles per hour and the vehicles in front of me braked hard causing me to brake hard as well. …”
NHTSA complaint #11353159, filed 2020-09, 13,000 miles“Brakes were intermittently failing to work. When they most often failed was after hitting a pot hole or small bump in the road approaching a situation to stop with the foot on the brake pedal. The ABS system would kick in and the brake pedal would go to the floor losing pressure and braking. I have had several near miss accidents and have blown stop signs and red lights because of this issue. Had it in the shop several times to have it checked out. What I had replaced was the hydraulic control assemby for the ABS system. A valve was sticking in the module that caused this to happen. …”
NHTSA complaint #10940095, filed 2017-01, 100,000 miles“While backing into a parking spot, the car's rear sensors sounded. Since I thought there was still 3 or 4 feet of space to a chain link fence behind the car, I got out to investigate. There was room, so I got back into the car & continued to back up slowly while looking out the open driver door. When I applied the brake, the car would not stop. I applied the brakes a few more times, but still couldn't get the car to stop. I believe I moved my right foot more to the left & tried to stop again. …”
NHTSA complaint #10349093, filed 2010-08, 3,049 miles“In a stopping situation today I heard a loud pop and then lost all brake pressure. I took the vehicle to a local repair shop and they found a rubber flex hose right off the master cylinder had blown out. This is in an area that is not very easy to get to nor is it near the bottom where salt and road debris can get to. My vehicle is out of warranty by 2,391 miles. I called the ford Lincoln mercury hotline and they said I was out of warranty and there was no recalls on this situation. I could have been in a bad accident or hit a child it was very scary. …”
