Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Front left seat support under driver's seat broke loose, causing entire seat to tilt backward during acceleration on a city street. Only a firm grip on the steering wheel prevented me from losing control of the vehicle. Only after searching on the web did I find an existing recall for seat inspection . No contact from manufacturer about this recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10981720, filed 2017-05, 49,000 miles

“My driver seat has substantial unwanted movement. I was getting out of the vehicle when I heard a loud crack. The seat now moves 2 back and forth while accelerating and decelerating. This is impairing my ability to properly use the clutch pedal and maintaining speed with the gas pedal.”

NHTSA complaint #11322950, filed 2020-05, 70,000 miles

“Drivers seat broke loose. Was at a stop light. When I started my left turn the seat suddenly rocked back and then slammed forward. I almost lost control as my foot had come off the gas pedal during the rock back and then stepped back on it as I was thrown forward forward. The car has always had a clicking noise coming from the drivers side seat.”

NHTSA complaint #10850743, filed 2016-03, 119,420 miles

“While driving at roughly 40 MPH, I heard a pop from the driver seat area. The seat started rocking significantly when the car changed speed. This was distracting and affected my ability to steer, a safety concern. The problem was a front seat adjuster unit which the dealer replaced at a cost of roughly $900.00.”

NHTSA complaint #10930283, filed 2016-12, 75,300 miles

“I was driving down the road and heard/felt a clunk and the driver seat tilted back a few inches and became unstable. The seat now moves freely up and down and is not currently safe to drive. This was a result of weld on the seat bracket breaking and the seat losing its support. I looked online and found over 100 complaints for the same issue.”
