“I was driving at 45 MPH and applied the brake to stop. The engine revved to 2,000 RPM. I was able to stop with very hard braking using both feet. The engine continue revving at 2,000 RPM even after the car had stopped. I placed the transmission in neutral and the engine revved even faster. The engine did not slow down until I turned off the ignition. After leaving the engine off for around two minutes, I restarted the engine and it resumed running at around 500 RPM. …”
NHTSA complaint #10514506, filed 2013-05, 27,000 miles“My wife was driving around 25 MPH and less than one mile from our house. When she applied the brakes to stop at a stop sign the engine revved up. I was riding with her and observed the engine rev to around 2,500 RPM before slowing down. I also observed that her right foot was on the brake and that nothing was touching the accelerator. The cruise control had not been turned on. This was at least the fourth time this year that the engine revved up when the brakes were applied. The dealer could not find the problem and the engine did not rev while the dealer was testing the car.”
