“Since I've owned my Mitsubishi 3000GT at 147,000 miles, the seat belts have not retracted properly in the front two seats. The rear seat belts both work correctly and belts in my truck work correctly as well, which is a 1978 ford f150 with several hundred thousand miles on it.”

NHTSA complaint #10166030, filed 2006-08, 147,000 miles

“During december I almost had an accident when a vehicle cut me off on the highway. I immediately pressed my brake pedal but my seat belt did not work. Later on I realized my seat belt doesn't retract when the weather is humid.”

NHTSA complaint #10177818, filed 2007-01, 85,850 miles

“1994 mitsubusihi 3000GT sl. Seat belt does not always retract, leaving slack in the belt. This problem has been happening for years but I was unaware of this forum to register my complaint. Out of dealer warranty.”

NHTSA complaint #10162744, filed 2006-07, 60,000 miles

“Front seat belts do not retract after the seat is returned from the forward position. Also, they do not retract if too much slack is pulled when buckling the belt. The slack has to be fed back into the tensioner to make the seatbelt fit tight in order to be effective during a crash.”

NHTSA complaint #10193485, filed 2007-06, 73,150 miles

“Rear seat belts failed. They will not retract without substantial effort, and they did not catch under rapid decelleration. Both driver and passenger front seat belts frequently failed to catch under rapid deceleration. This problem persisted for several years.”

NHTSA complaint #10186125, filed 2007-03, 80,000 miles
