“I was driving my wifes 2007 Mitsubishi eclipse spider home from the store when deer ran out in front of me going 25 MPH went to apply the brakes pedal went to the floor causing me to go offroad instead of stopping ending up in a ditch”

NHTSA complaint #10836549, filed 2016-02, 10 miles

“I was getting to a red light to make a left turn. Cars were coming so I pressed the brakes to stop and let them pass. The brakes started to catch then went to the floor and the car didn't stop. I slammed the gas to turn in front of oncoming traffic to avoid hitting the car waiting to turn in the lane in front of me. I understand there is a long line of people that have this same model and year car as me, have been through this same issue and there is no recall. I have my brakes checked and brake pads changed regularly when needed.”

NHTSA complaint #10610567, filed 2014-07, 142,520 miles

“Front brakes squeal and squeak badly when slowly braking since september 2006. I have taken vehicle to dealer x6 times with the same issue. Dealer continues to say its because I ride my breaks. I've had the rotors resurfaced x2, rotors replaced x1, brake pad x3. The brakes today 07/01/08, continue to squeal and squeak, dealer states, the brakes have good pad, but rotors need to be resurfaced due to glaze they replace them in dec. 2007 (its been 10,000 miles later) and dealer says I need to pay for resurfacing. The back brakes makes loud noise when in reverse. …”

NHTSA complaint #10232984, filed 2008-07, 12,000 miles

“When the brake pedal is depressed while traveling over a bump, dip or uneven road surface the brake pedal goes to the floor and the car loses its stopping power. You lose your brakes! You have to quickly pump the brake pedal to get pressure back so you can stop. It seems to be a common problem with these cars. Just look at all the posts on the internet. It is not normal for a car to lose it brakes because you went over a bump.”

NHTSA complaint #10585172, filed 2014-04, 51,000 miles

“I was driving 55 to 60 MPH, then let off the gas to take my exit and was down to about 20 MPH when my brakes failed, and I couldn't stop at the light at the end of the ramp. The pedal went all the way to the floor, so I pumped them 2 or 3 times and as I was letting off the break, it started whistling. It sounded like a cross between an accordion and an asthmatic episode. I was already close to school, so I drove to the parking lot and parked. The only way I could slow down and stop was to continuously pump the breaks. I wasn't having nor ever had issues with my breaks before that day.”
