“My 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse's axle snapped when I was going over a speed bump at about 3 miles per hour. The control arm also broke on the front driver's side. It only had 135,000 miles at the time. I got it replaced and still makes a really bad grinding noise. I was wondering if there could be a recall on the axle or the control arm. If I was driving at a normal speed, I'm sure something alot worse would of happened.”

NHTSA complaint #10276262, filed 2009-07, 135,000 miles

“Not only do I have the aggrevation of bent rims and flat tires, and financial hardship on this, my left side of the car doesn't align to the right. Water leeks in on the left side. Sometimes the heater blows out cool air. The sunroof shakes when opening. I already had a manufacuters defect in my strut on the left side. I have sctraches on the left side fom the car scrapping the ground when I make a right hand turn. I had to have the cooling system replaced the first week I financed it.my hood won't open and my headlights fail causing me to dirve only with the fog lights. …”

NHTSA complaint #10118406, filed 2005-04, 30 miles

“Right front steering assembly (tie rod & ball joints) tore away from where it was attached to the frame resulting in the vehicle to go out of control . Vehicle struck the curb and ran into a light pole before coming to a stop.”

NHTSA complaint #10276295, filed 2009-07, 101,476 miles

“The contact owns a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse. While the contact's daughter was driving 30 MPH, the lower passenger side control arm failed, which caused the entire wheel assembly to separate from the vehicle. The vehicle landed onto the frame. The contact struck two parked vehicles and then slid into the third vehicle, which stopped the contact's vehicle because there was no braking ability after the assembly fell off. A police report was filed. The air bags failed to deploy and the vehicle was destroyed. …”

NHTSA complaint #10235340, filed 2008-07, 30,000 miles

“Clunking sound in suspension while turning and reversing at minimal speeds. Contacted manufacturer and rep test drove vehicle stating it was minor and that it is expected because new vehicles do not stay new forever. Mitsubishi attempted repair 4 times and failed all. Problem was diagnosed as bushings. Replaced bushings twice. No resolution.”
