Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I heard a noise while driving at low speeds while hitting bumps, when I stopped driving and looked under the vehicle I noticed the frame was rusted completely through to the other side, and especially bad where the rear differential bracket is attached to the frame, its so loose it doesn't look safe to drive.”

NHTSA complaint #11154414, filed 2018-11, 200,000 miles

“Since I purchased this veh, it never occurred to me as to how often I was having to have the brakes replaced and components replaced. A friend told me to check recalls for Mitsubishi and now I find the brake system has a recall. Well due to me being way past my warranty the recall does not help me, but from what I hear the dealer refuses to make these free repairs. Refund for all consumers who brought the things. No accidents or injury at this point.”

NHTSA complaint #10280577, filed 2009-08, 30,000 miles

“I have a 2000 Mitsubishi monterosport xls. The rear suspension bottom out when car was loaded. When I had warranty mitsu dealer said nothing was wrong. Now it expired, fixing it will cost $600. This should be a safety recall. All 2000 monterosport have this problem according to many forums I have seen.”

NHTSA complaint #10105696, filed 2005-01, 20,000 miles

“While driving at any speed and when depressing the brakes consumer can felt vibration in the steering wheel. Sears auto center informed the consumer that the front shocks needed to be replaced. Changed the front shocks, but vibrations was still evident.”

NHTSA complaint #10059621, filed 2004-02, 23,000 miles

“Vehicle vibrates at speeds of 55 and above. I've taken it back to the dealership 11 times and I have another appointment on 2/28/02 for this same problem. Their solution seems to be to rotate and balance the tires. That's not the solution because the problem still exists.”
