“Motorcycle experiences sudden loss of power as a result of fuel line becoming disconnected from fuel pump inside fuel tank. This has occurred to me twice; once while traveling on an interstate highway at highway speeds, and again on a secondary road. It is a significant safety issue as I was in the third lane from the shoulder and had to, without power, weave through traffic in order to not be broken down in the middle of traffic traveling at 55 m.p.h. Or more. …”
NHTSA complaint #10273816, filed 2009-06, 1,200 miles“Fuel tank has expanded to the point that it cannot be attached to the motorcycle as designed. Either the front mounting bumpers need to be modified (reduced in size), or the rear mounting point (rubber spacer, metal spacers) needs modification. Lengthwise expansion appears to be approximately 5mm.”
NHTSA complaint #10474022, filed 2012-09, 31,000 miles“The plastic fuel tank expands due to ethanol fuel used in the united states. This could cause a fuel leak eventually. The maker of the cycle does not notify the consumer upon purchase.”
