“In feb. 2008, my Maxima 2001, with 55000 miles, stalled out at a stop light--it would start up again but then stalled out when I tried to go. It was towed to the dealership, and the iac valve and the ECM were both replaced for about $1700. Then, on oct. 20, 2008, 8 months later with the mileage just under 60,000 miles, the same thing happened but it was preceded by a smell of burning rubber. It was towed to the dealership and I was told that the engine harness needed to be replaced ($2000 parts and labor) and the iac valve and the ECM again needed to replaced (another $1700). …”
NHTSA complaint #10249198, filed 2008-11, 54,888 miles“I was driving on the interstate at 70 MPH I went to down shift to 3rd but got 1st. I know this is not supposed to happen so I thought I was in 3rd gear. I let off the clutch and the car went from 70 MPH to about 35 MPH in 3 sec. I would have went through the windshield if not for the seat belt which work fine. Well this ordeal left my car with 1 or 2 blown cylinder heads, bent, valves water out tail pipe and its not due to the fact I didn't know how to drive a stick I have been driving them since I got out of school in 96..can you tell me why this happened ? …”
NHTSA complaint #10135275, filed 2005-09, 32,000 miles“I believe the right front strut I purchased for my 2001 Nissan Maxima is being incorrectly manufactured by kyb america, llc (subsidiary of kayaba industry companies). Proper installation of the ABS line and the main brake line can not be achieved due to reasons documented in the excerpt of correspondence between myself to kyb america below. This month I have begun to notice some dangerous wearing on my brake line caused by improper manufacturing/installation. Kyb has only responded to my initial form filled out online with a generic auto responder email listing their contact information. …”

The contact was driving approximately 65 MPH when he heard a loud, abnormal banging from the roof of the vehicle. The contact looked into the rear view mirror and noticed that the sun roof had fractured from the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired.
