“My engine has an intermittent idle control problem. Periodically (every week to two weeks) my engine will have difficulty maintaining idle. The engine starts every time. After 5 mins. Of running time, the engine idle speed starts to fluctuate between 0 RPM and 1200 RPM. The normal idle speed after the initial 5 min. Warm up period is 700-800 RPM. This idling problems lasts for approximately 10-20 mins. If I do not attempt to restart the engine and let my engine rest, the idling problem resolves itself. After 20 mins. …”
NHTSA complaint #750596, filed 2001-08“The vehicle was hard starting, engine/transmission surge, at low speeds and up hill. The thermostat stuck and several other malfunctions. The engine suddenly shut down without warning. The over heated engine had serious burning inside. There were no indicator lights on to see the engine temperature gauge at peak heat. The consumer could not find the problem, had no steam, no check engine, just a fear of engine melt down about to recur.”
