Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Takata recall; after purchasing vehicle and driving for about 10 minutes; check engine light suddenly comes on prior to picking up speed to enter highway; vehicle abruptly loses power at a speed of 65 miles per hour and stalls in traffic causing a near fatal traffic accident; after running the VIN number in NHTSA database vehicle was never recalled for grossly negligent issue with crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. This leads me to the fact that vehicle manufacturer never contacted original owner concerning this terrible safety issue. …”

NHTSA complaint #10911021, filed 2016-10, 183,400 miles

“The contact owns a 2002 Nissan Sentra. While driving approximately 15 MPH, the vehicle stalled intermittently. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and it was discovered that the electronic control module failed. The vehicle was repaired. The failures were identical to those mentioned in the recall; however, her VIN was excluded. The VIN and NHTSA campaign id number were unknown. The failure and current mileages were 40,000.”
